Dressing for Chicago Spring

Spring is a term I use lightly here in Chicago. What I mean by this is we don't really get much of a spring. It is usually either HOT or COLD. But on those few instances when we can actually dress for the appropriate season, I take full advantage!

There are two must-have items:
1. thigh high boots
2. light jacket

Thigh high boots are the perfect transition piece - especially when worn with dresses. These cover enough of your leg to go without tights, but you are also not freezing your butt off. I have written about my tips for choosing the right pair HERE. I love the look of these boots with a crisp shirt dress or any style of chambray!

The light jacket is my arch nemesis. Each year I purchase one (or three) and I never wear them as much as I intend - however it is not my fault! As I mentioned above, it is either hot or cold in Chicago...nothing in between. However, I think this year might be the year to get my wear out of these jackets. Once the sun goes down, paired with the lake effect breeze - the city gets pretty chills. I love to wear a jacket draped over my shoulders (c/o Kim K). The "light jacket" category encompasses all types of jackets from denim to linen. I plan on creating a post of  my favorites to share with all of you, so stay tuned!
