In Flight Fashion

Friday, October 7, 2016

This weekend I am so excited to travel out towards the eastern (at least according to me) part of our beautiful country. I am headed to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - home to Primanti Brothers sandwiches and the great classic film, Flashdance (steel toed boots never looked so good).

I am flying out to visit my soon-to-be Godson and his 'whackadoodle' parents (a word coined by the mother herself). The love that I have for these two people is indescribable. They are so deserving of this not so little bundle of joy and I'm #blessed to part of the journey. I am BEYOND excited to see this nugget in person and confirm that his weight gain is on par with my own - I've been told we share the same eating habits...

As I prepare for my trip, I thought I'd share some of the process with my readers:

Let's start with the actual luggage. I wrote a post about some of my favorite weekend bags (check it out here), however the one I'm taking with me on this trip is a brand new hardshell carry-on piece. This is the first time I'm using a hardshell as a carry-on so wish me luck and let's hope that it fits overhead (insert emoji prayer hands here!).

I start prepping a few days in advance; anything earlier and I forget what I've packed and end up having to unpack and repack multiple times. In order to lower the chances of this annoyance, I create somewhat of a 'fashion itinerary' which details what I'm doing and what I plan on wearing for each activity. This way, as I'm pulling things from my closet I can check off what I already placed in my suitcase. I know I sound like an OCD freak - but seriously, try it once and you won't forget a thing!

While I'm not going to go into detail about the exact contents of my suitcase in this post (future ones to come!), I will be sharing with you my go-to style for flying.

I always go for something comfortable, yet not sloppy. I consider this outfit to be the epitome of 'athleisure'. I am morally opposed to heels on an airplane...solely based on the amount of movies I watch. What if there is an emergency?! I basically want to be able to Tom Hanks (WILSON!!!) it in my gear.
